Philip K. Liao is a Taiwanese-American writer, director, and cinematographer. In 2008 he received a Bachelor of Science from New York University Stern School of Business. After spending some years working in investment banks in New York City and Hong Kong, he realized that his passions lie in filmmaking. Philip is currently pursuing his MFA in Film at New York University Tisch School of the Arts. He has served as director and cinematographer on narratives, commercials, and music videos throughout Asia and the United States. His work has been screened at film festivals around the world including Berlin International Film Festival, Palm Springs International Shorts Fest, Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, Tehran International Film Festival, among others. Philip is currently finishing his thesis film, It’s the AZN, a semi-autobiographical account of growing up in America as a 1st generation Asian American dealing with identity, bullying, and mental health.
